Beginning Tuesday, June 16, 2020, the community amenities will reopen with the implementation of necessary restrictions, precautions and sanitation measures based on CDC guidelines and decisions of government and public health officials on the federal, state and local level as well as those of the HOA attorney and the insurer.
At River Plantation, the health and safety of residents is of utmost importance. These policies and restrictions for the use of the amenities are designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Only you can determine whether it is best practice to use these community amenities. Your cooperation is critical for the successful implementation of preventative measures to keep all residents safe. It truly takes a collaborative, mindful effort by the community for its success.
Please do not invite friends or family members who do not live in your household during this pandemic to use our amenities. The practice of allowing each membership household to bring up to THREE guests for use of the pool facilities has been suspended foremost for liability reasons, to allow for the greatest number of residents to utilize the pool with the established limited capacity put in place to maintain the needed social distancing space and to support the measures taken to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community. When social distancing guidelines are more lenient, we will revisit this policy decision.
For residents who choose to use the reopened amenities, please note the following policies and restrictions:
Tennis: Singles play only to allow for Social Distancing. Residents only. Only active players should be on the court. Court time is limited to one hour when other players are waiting to play. Players are asked to adhere to safe playing policies as recommended by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) including having their own tennis balls for play which you may want to mark and no exchanging of equipment between players.
Basketball Court: Please play in a way that allows for social distancing. Only active players should be on the court.
Playground: Please use in a way that allows for social distancing.
Kayak launch: Please Social Distance. Residents only.
Nature Trail: Please Social Distance. Residents only.
Clubhouse: Private use of the clubhouse by residents is suspended until further notice.
Pool: Hours of operation will continue to be 7 days a week from dawn to dusk. Residents only. No guests are permitted until further notice (no friends or family that do not live in your household during this pandemic). Please refrain from using the pool if you are sick; you have a fever; you or a member of your household exhibits CDC recognized COVID-19 symptoms; you have COVID-19; you were exposed to someone with COVID-19 within the last 14 days, or if you are following public health recommendations for the length of time you should self-quarantine after exposure or after return from travel to certain locations.
Residents are asked to limit their time at the pool to no more than 2 hour per day. A maximum total of 30 residents may occupy the areas within the fenced pool area. You are asked to self-enforce these rules. If capacity for the pool and pool deck has been reached, please wait outside the access gate until a sufficient number of residents exit. Please follow social distancing guidelines while waiting to enter. Residents are to maintain the six-foot recommended social distance in the pool and between persons while sitting or standing on the pool deck. Members living in the same household during this pandemic should sit together. Because of the risk of contamination through shared furniture surfaces, all pool furniture has temporarily been removed and placed in the clubhouse. Residents may bring their own chairs or loungers to the pool deck for their personal use, but must take them away when they leave the area. Residents are advised to wear face masks or face covering in times when physical distancing is difficult such as when using the poolside bathrooms. Staggering use of the bathroom would aide in social distancing. Residents are encouraged to wash their hands often for at least 20 seconds and cover their coughs and sneezes. No balls or pool toys permitted on the pool deck or in the pool. Please do not remove the orange safety life rings. They are not a toy. They need to be in place and untangled for emergency use only. The water fountain will be turned off. The DOH was contacted and stated many establishments have made the same choice, and they are fine with this decision.
Preventive Measures when using the amenities:
The health and safety of residents remain our top priority, and our ability to reopen the community amenities and keep them open requires everyone to continue to practice these preventive measures:
Please refrain from using the amenities if you are sick; you have a fever; you or a member of your household exhibits CDC recognized COVID-19 symptoms; you have COVID-19; you were exposed to someone with COVID-19 within the last 14 days, or if you are following public health recommendations for the length of time you should self-quarantine after exposure or after return from travel to certain locations.
Maintain a distance of at least six feet from others who are not members of your household.
Avoid group gatherings both in and out of the water if social distancing of at least 6 feet, between people who do not live together, cannot be maintained.
Use face mask or face coverings when in close confines.
Follow CDC guidelines by washing your hands often for at least 20 seconds and cover your coughs and sneezes.
Use hand sanitizer (that contains at least 60% alcohol content) if soap and water are not available.
Refrain from sharing items with others if they are not a member of your same household.
Sanitation Measures put in place:
We have a custodian that cleans and sanitizes the facilities. There has been no interruption of pool service. The pool has been continuously cleaned, tested and treated three times per week by the HOA contracted pool vendor.
Disclaimer: By making the voluntary decision to use the community amenities, residents agree to take full responsibility for and to assume all risk of injury or illness associated with using the amenities. The opening of the amenities should also not be construed as any sort of guarantee of residents’ health and safety in their use of these amenities. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
At any time, the designated Board members will have the ability to review, modify or rescind any portion or in total, these policies and restrictions including terminating the use of an amenity or amenities based on safety concerns, liability mitigation or failure of community cooperation.
Thank you in advance for your support, understanding and adherence to the above guidelines.
